Spring Gala

The Cross County Arts Council held its first annual “Affair of the Arts” Spring Gala and Auction March 5, 2005. The gala, that included a silent and live auction, was organized to raise money for school programs and scholarships. Organizers were happily surprised when the gala brought in more than $25,000 for the arts council, an amount that far surpassed the group’s goal. The Bouffants, the popular Memphis band that sings and dances to hits from the 50s and 60s, performed for a crowd that included more than 300 guests.

The second annual “Affair of the Arts” was held Feb. 11, 2006 and included more than 350 guests. The gala raised more than $21,000 for school and community programs.
This year’s gala was held at the new Technology Center for the Delta. The Bouffants once again performed.

The event began with a silent auction that included close to 100 items from local artwork and athletic tickets to birthday party packages and casserole of the month coupons. The live auction followed with items from a wine tasting party and New York trip to fur coats and diamond earrings.

Partygoers danced with the Bouffants until 1 a.m. and had a wonderful time raising money to support the arts. Plans are to hold the event yearly.
