Theater
Workshop
The Cross County Arts
Council held its first theater workshop for junior high students in August 2005.
Plans are to offer the workshop for one week each summer.
Junior high students met with a theater instructor who introduced the teens to
work by well-known playwrights. The instructor also encouraged students to write
their own skits to perform.
The group spent one week selecting and performing skits in preparation for a
community performance Friday evening. Dressed in costumes they created, the
students performed for the public at The Learning Curve outdoor classroom.
The instructor was a graduate of Wynne High School who was greatly involved in
the theater program. She was also majoring in theater at college.
The theater workshop was offered to students at no cost.
